LISBOA NU BAI PARIS · sunday

La Gaîté Lyrique, the Gulbenkian Foundation, Dino D'Santiago and Batuku Records invite you to proudly celebrate the 50th anniversary of independence for the Portuguese-speaking African countries!

In November, Paris will become the stage for an unprecedented encounter between Lisbon and Paris. Lisboa nu bai Paris celebrates the 50th anniversary of independence for the Portuguese-speaking African countries, reminding us that the Portuguese capital is today a crossroads where tradition and avant-garde meet to shape new sounds and new narratives that transcend borders.

Lisboa nu bai Paris promises to be more than a celebration: it is an invitation to reflection, unity, and liberation — marking a unique moment of resistance and creation.

*Lisbon, we’re going to Paris in Cape Verdean Creole.

Line-up

EU.CLIDES

EU.CLIDES is one of the most original voices of the new wave on the Portuguese music scene, blending Cape Verdean roots with electronic, classical, and contemporary poetic influences. With a distinctive aesthetic and an unmistakable tone, his compositions bridge tradition and modernity, emotion and avant-garde experimentation.

In 2023, EU.CLIDES released his debut album DECLIVE — entirely self-composed. Praised by critics and named by Antena 3 and Blitz as one of the best Portuguese albums of the year, DECLIVE confirms the artist’s unique vision. Performing to sold-out crowds on major festival stages, EU.CLIDES has established himself as one of the most innovative artists of his generation.

Umafricana & Indi Mateta

Umafricana, whose real name is Sandra Baldé, is a DJ, writer, and entrepreneur. Born in Guinea and raised in Portugal, she has been dancing and singing for as long as she can remember to the sounds of R&B, North American pop, dancehall, gumbé, zouk, and coupé-décalé. With an impressive professional background, she has performed at some of the most iconic venues in Lisbon, Porto, and the Algarve, as well as at festivals such as NOS Alive, Festival Iminente, MIL, Festa Criola, Jardins de Verão (Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation), and Coala Festival (Portugal). She has shared the stage with renowned artists like Pongo, Soluna, and Bia Ferreira, and is the founder and co-founder of two innovative musical projects — @shayo.club and @goddess.fest.

Her DJ sets are carefully crafted, reflecting her unique personality and taking audiences on a journey through the vibrant rhythms of the African continent — afrobeat, amapiano, coupé-décalé, gqom, afrohouse, kuduro, and afrotech — which she seamlessly blends with influences from American pop/R&B and Latin sounds.

Indi Mateta, daughter of Luanda, citizen of the world, and guardian of ancestral memories, expresses herself artistically through photography, video, installation, documentary film, performance, music, and sound — always with the same intention: to heal, to awaken, and to remember.

As a DJ, she delivers eclectic sets that merge the sounds of Africa and its diaspora, linking past and present. She combines ancestral tones from handmade musical instruments from various regions of Africa with contemporary, acoustic, and urban electronic music — emphasizing afrohouse, afrotech, deep house, house, hip house/house rap, kuduro, batida, semba, kizomba, Angolan popular music, reggae, afrobeat, and much more.

Soluna

Soluna is an artist of Argentina and Angolan descent who fuses reggaeton, afrohouse, R&B and soul to creat a bold, unique and irrestitbly danceable sound. Born in Buenos Aires, raised in Barcelona and now based in Lisbon, her music reflects her migratory journey, exploring themes such as identity and independence. Soluna blends Afro-latin rhythms with urban pop sounds and electronic textures, making her and increasingly distinctive and powerful voice on the international music scene.
