A space for artists and visitors

Resources Centre

The Resources Centre offers visitors the chance to explore digital culture through additional resources provided on programs and featured artists

Themed collections on artists and multimedia exhibitions

Open to all

Free access to the Resources Centre is available to all visitors. The centre aims to provide you with the keys to better understand new digital era arts and modes of communication. The aim is to help you to get informed, extend your knowledge and discover new ideas. Our goal is to provide a space where visitors can develop new skills, experiment through play and share the unexpected, either alone, with friends or the family. The Resources Centre has been conceived as an extension to the main program at La Gaîté.

The Resources Centre is open from Tuesday to Saturday from 2pm to 8pm and on Sundays from 2pm to 6pm.
Plan your visit.

Non encyclopaedic

The centre provides resources on areas related to new forms of digital art and contemporary music: new technologies, design, architecture of the future, video games, social networks, dance, stage sets and installations, digital literature and aspects of urban culture such as street art, skate boarding, graffiti and so on. Before a concert, after an exhibition or an installation, or perhaps within the framework of a workshop or a talk, visitors, enthusiasts, music lovers, young audience members, artists and professionals can continue to follow-up what they have seen, heard or experienced elsewhere in the building. They can come to listen to music and watch movies, make themselves comfortable in our specially designed spaces, read through a magazine or settle in in front of a touch screen to browse online resources related to an event they've just attended.

Access is also provided to researchers, students, teachers, and middle and high school students, who wish to use the Gaîté documentary resources to  complement a study, a thesis or a dissertation or to acquire new knowledge or establish a bibliography. The centre aims to be on the pulse of emerging cultural movments.

THE ONLINE CATALOGUE

The online catalogue allows easy browsing with material ranging from multimedia resources to documentary records. Artists in residence suggest new acquisitions and make use of the resources and facilities to further their artistic interests. Each week, a theme is programmed in the gaming area to provide an opportunity to discover/rediscover video gaming, an  art unto itself.
A space where workshops for young audiences/families, schools are organised alongside artist meet-ups, documentary research training and information-initiation covering all aspects of multimedia, the digital arts and video gaming.
