Ian Seniff – Captain America (détail)
Mike King, the well-known concerts and festivals posters graphic designer - including the Keep Portland Weird poster - sends us his postcard-shaped agenda from Portland ; a city where comics are celebrated, where one can listen to klezmer music at a pizza parlor and dance in a former mortuary!

Silver Age, by Ian Seniff

Monday 23rd April • Gigantic Gallery

Silver Age, comics inspired art by Ian Seniff at Gigantic Gallery. A fleshier approach to Silver Age comic book heros presented as a series of paintings, in what is probably Portland's smallest gallery.

Ubik

Tuesday 24th April • World Famous Kenton club

I guess Seattle's Ubik might be a metal band, but probably not. They seem to specialize in heavy stuttering complicated music without guitars
with Lickety from Portland who play quirky electronic sludge at the World Famous Kenton Club.

The « Hesperus Rex » album cover, by Sweater ! (a side project of Grey Anne)

Wednesday 25th April • Ella Street Social Club

The endearing folk/electronic sounds of Portland's Grey Anne in a club that used to be a mortuary, should be fun with some other bands. Also M83 at Roseland Theater

Soul'd Out 2012

Thursday 26th April • Mississippi Pizza + Wonder Ballroom

The Yiddish Republik Orchestra play klezmer and eastern european folk music at a pizza parlor, Mississippi Pizza. Later, DJ Shadow, a national treasure, is part of the Soul'd Out Music FestivalWonder Ballroom.

Black Pussy (Is Go)

Friday 27th April • Slabtown

Black Pussy (Is Go) bring their shambling dirty classic style rock to the classic dirty shambles that is Slabtown with Pinkzilla and Lamprey.

DJ Roxy Epoxy

Saturday 28th April • Disjecta + Ground Kontrol

The last day of Disjecta's Portland 2012: A biennial of contemporary art, a chance to see what Disjecta thinks is happening in Portland's art scene. Later, New Wave Disco at a video arcade with beer, featuring DJ Roxy Epoxy formerly of the much loved Portland band The Epoxies at Ground Kontrol.
