Life in a Day / Kevin Macdonald + Ridley Scott / UK 2011
Following an online call for submissions, over 80,000 people submitted video footage to YouTube of what they were doing on the 24th July 2010. Highly esteemed Scottish filmmaker MacDonald (The Last King of Scotland) and his team then painstakingly trawled through each entry to edit together a heartwarming feature film and web documentary about what life is like all over the world at one precise moment in time. The film, which claims to be ‘the largest user-generated feature film’, received its premiere at Sundance Film Festival in January 2011 and is due for release this summer.

Be a star (swedish broadcasting) / Sweden 2010
A tongue-in-cheek sequel to the massively successful ‘Be A Hero’ viral campaign. In a slightly strange attempt to encourage viewers to pay their Swedish TV license fee, ‘Be A Star’ allows the user to be part of a cheesy dance music video by switching on their webcam and singing along to the cues as the Promo Director instructs you. The sillier and more outlandish your performance, the better. You can then send your personalized music video to friends or choose to keep it a pleasurably guilty secret.
